20th Century Boys is amazing. I've been reading it online for the past few weeks. I mean, it blows my mind. If done right, I think it could make an awesome movie.

Definitely in agreement. I love Totoro. Anything from Miyazaki is just pure gold. There's just something magical in the characters, the music, the style.
Always heart-touching.
Have you seen On Your Mark? It's very short, but every time I watch it, it gives me goosebumps and tears in my eyes. Even with no dialogue. The song is wonderful, and the main characters are introduced so well in such a short span of time. Simply beautiful. You can watch it on YouTube. Here's the Wikipedia entry if you want some more background on it. |

I have to say that my personal favorite is Spirited Away by Hayao Miyazaki. His other movies were wonderful as he is one of the few animators and actually draws every single
frame one-by-one, but I think was his most successful piece was Spirited Away since so many people could relate to it
and have empathy for the main character Chihiro. My cousin preferred Howl's Moving Castle since she loved
Howl's bishounen look, but it kind of lacked...a connection with the audience for me to really like it over Spirited
Away. Ah, another good one was Princess Mononoke, but that movie was awfully dark to go well with a large
audience, however was a remarkable piece.
I terribly want to see 5 Cm Per Second, Tales of Earthsea, Death Note Live Action Movie, and Bleach: Memories of Nobody (Which is coming out this fall!). I've heard these are pretty good and Tales of Earthsea was written by Goro Miyazaki, the SON of Hayao Miyazaki. I'm sorry, but the ones listed in the blog just don't strike interest with me. I'm not sure if it is because some of the movies are relatively old or the fact I'm just not into those mangas, but I suppose they're okay since they were praised quite often. ^_^;; I will agree however that Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind was a very good movie. <3 |

I bought the Studio Ghibli Collection off eBay a few days ago. I'm working on a piece of coursework on Ghibli, you see.
Princess Momonoke and Tales from Earthsea are the ones I've seen so far, and I'd have to say that Mononoke is better. They're really, really similar too, in characters and messages, and whatnot. Earthsea is a little more slowpaced though, and not much is explained, but I thought it was still a good movie in itself. Today, I'll probably watch On Your Mark, now that it's been mentioned, then refresh my memory with Spirited Away, as I haven't seen it for AGES. Manga that I want to be made into a movie would be... Bleach, Neon Genesis Evangelion and Akira. >_> |

XD They're introducing a new character in there too with a new form of enemy. You'll read about this when you look it up. ^_^ |

I'm just going by American releases since that's practically the only thing you and I will be able to understand. ^_^ American releases takes a VERY long time. So it may be even 2 years before anything gets released in America. I didn't mean to sound disrespectful. |

Dood. You need fansubs. Thanks to them, I can speak anime-japanese. Sugoi, ne! Although they're only half-legal, they allow you to keep up with the
Japanese broadcasts.
And don't worry about disrespect. I give most of the disrespect around here. ('¬')y |

Yeah thanks to fansuns you understand more and more japanese, when I listen to a japanese song I can ish tell what they're talking about but i've still
got a long way to go.
Oh I was listening to this one song last night and it said 'soba ni aitai' and I was like "Wut? Noodles hurt?" I still haven't figured what it really says but I doubt it says that ... or means it anyways. kikitue xx
