I'd say it's popularity exists in it's 220 episodes of relentless ninja battles.
And the Last battle between Sasuke and Naruto which was the most voted battle in the series itself. Even though I enjoyed the rock-paper-scissors battle between Kakashi and Gai ^^. |

*Sigh* yeah, I see what you guys mean. Naruto is everywhere. Personally, I don't have much of a problem with it, but yeah the first older audience anime
anyone hears about is Naruto.
Overall, as a true anime/manga, I think it is the most famous there is. Of course, before that you get Pokemon, but that's not really a true anime/manga I don't think. Oh well, people have got to start somewhere, uh?

I belive it is popular because there are many moments where the main character screws up. More than anyone i have seen in a anime or manga before, Then Naruto
flips himself over and becomes a powerhouse of pure destruction. The moves are cool and i like the story, Popularity maybe seeing naruto mess up and watch
someone punch him on the head.
Or more to the point, jiriya (cant spell) is mega perverted which makes the show very funny in my opinion. Many ninja battles as said above to keep intrest, comedy at many points to keep intrest and a compelling story line. Theres my 2 cents.

well, i think its never ever ever gonna end for like 3 more years. but when its end, thats when the apocalypse will strike! world terror! and then kira is
gonna have to go and put the world back in line. it'll all work out

Yeah Naruto is very very popular. I don't know why because there are hundreds of amazing anime that are overlooked and under rated when anime like Naruto,
which is average at most, are hogging the spotlight. Why, even in England where most people haven't even heard the word anime or even know where Japan is
on the map know of the Ninja in the bright orange jumpsuit. Just recently there was a kid who sat next to me in maths who was annoying me by drawing all over
the worksheet drew a picture of Naruto's face [at least I think it was since it wasn't very good but there was no mistaking the spiky hair, whiskers
and headband supporting the Konohagakure (sp?) leaf symbol.] I have no idea how he could have known since no anime airs here [if you don't count YuGiOh GX
on the kids channel] and he didn't seem the kind of person to get on the internet and watch it.
[I know this is unrelated but I was massively supprised a couple of years ago when the art teacher set us the task of drawing and painting a BLEACH promo poster. I think thats the closest anyone in my school has ever got to any kind of manga/anime... lol.. everyone was making remarks about Orihime's boobs. XD] |

Naruto is everywhere.
One day i dressed up in a ninja costume and ran around a park doing flips and junk (dont ask, lol) and a little 8 year old kid runs up to me and says "I WATCH NARUTO EVERY NIGHT!! RRAAAWR!!" and does some wierd hand mumbo jumbo, and runs up to me and tries to "attack" me with poopoojutsu but i, (actually having a martial arts background) simply step out of the way at the last second and push him to the floor. lol. I almost felt sorry for the little guy, (key word: almost) i didnt hurt him tho. that day i had a gang of 6 year olds following me around making a "ninja fanclub", but thats another story entierly xD lol

Yeah. Naruto's waaaay too popular...I think it's because of all the unusual characters, graphics, jutsus...etc. The plot tends to get bland after a
while, unlike Death Note. Every time I hear someone talking about Naruto, I just get the urge to slap them from sheer annoyance. Naruto's dominating the
traditional manga that we like so much.

*just then a young man with unfashionably bold taste accompanied by an emo who seems to suck and replicate my samurai skills with one of his powerful eyeballs just happened to pass by in the mall. Man people these days are only dressing up to look like emo rock bands and flashy rappers. And No Cosplayers!! What is this world coming TO!?! .I don't think anyone watches anime these days edit: Just incase, i have nothing against naruto, but nothing really for it. It's got too much filler, but interesting characters. so its kinda like DBZ 2 popularity wise in my opinion. |

My first manga/anime that I ever read was Naruto. A friend of mine was reading it once and I asked him what it was. MANGA o.O xD
I thought it was so cool, so 'cause of Naruto I started being interested in anime's/manga. Don't get me wrong, I don't think that naruto is the best anime. I just think that it's good that such anime is soooo popular that ppl get to know anime,...right? |

Naruto is average at most. Don't get me wrong, I like it, but I liked it better when it was called "Dragonball Z". It is good that it is
appealing enough to be popular here in the states, maybe it'll turn more people into anime fans. (And more recruits for my Donut Imperial Army. We're
going to conquer the world, ya know.)
Anime is slowly but surely spreading around the United States, but the reason behind this is that a lot of anime/manga fans are extremely shy, and a little quiet about their fandom. This is fact. At my local Borders book store, they have a huge manga section. No one goes in there unless someone steps in first. It's not until one person surfs on in there and starts reading the manga, before others follow. I think it's because a lot of people tend to look down on people who enjoy cartoons and comics, but they fail to face the fact that during this day in age there are cartoons for adults and kids. If you were to go to Japan though, you wouldn't be surprised to find an elderly man reading up on his favorite manga, or a middle aged woman catching up on her favorite romance manga. Give it time though. Eventually anime and manga will be as common knowledge as knowing how to breath. It'll take a generation or so, but I'm sure it'll happen. On a side note, and a reply to an earlier post about Pokemon not being considered an anime: It is an anime. That's like saying Detective Conan shouldn't be considered an anime because of it's length. Detective Conan is one of the longest animated series in the world, if not THE longest. It has like what? 900+ Episodes? It's been on a little over 12+ years. Well, I'm ranting now, so I'd better send it here before I keep going. x3 |
