Osashiburi, Mysonius-kun (it's been a long time, Mysonius).
That's some bad news there, but glad you're spending that extra time to learn another language, and Japanese of all; quite a complex, but fun language to learn. I wish Bakadesuka had been here, as he would have great advice for you. But as far as the questions about MU books, I wouldn't know anything. If you want to learn Japanese slowly, there are great places where they'll give you basic tips and words/ sayings. It's all out there, just needs a little searching. But if you're looking for more trustworthy info, then I hand it over to Mangaka7 or someone else either from the forum, or someone who directly works with MU. Some great and easy words: Tsukareta -- means "I am tired". Genki -- when used with "desu" it means "I am well". Adding "ka" to the end changes it into a question; "O genki desu ka". Shirimasen -- means "I don't know" (brilliant phrase for any language =P). Sugoi -- usually means "Cool" or "Amazing". Atsui/ Samui -- means "Hot/ Cold" respectively. Can be used in a greeting during Summer, "Atsui, desu ne" or Winter, "Samui, desu ne". Kawaii -- means "cute", and this can definately be overused. Oishii -- means "delicious". Anyway, hope that helps, and before I say anymore being afraid that I said something wrong, I'll just end off with... Ja na and Ganbatte! |

Itachi wrote:Depends where you go. In Tokyo, maybe, But I found in Osaka, you will do a lot of pointing and hand jestures if you dont know Japanese. (they also use the Kansai dielect, which just makes it more confusing) Although it didnt help that I am, but I don't speak a whole lot, so I got a lot of funny or suprised looks. So my experience would be different than most. Warning: Contains 100% Fanservice. |

& yes my friend was situated in Tokyo, though i do agree that Japanese or chinese would be a great language to learn.

Konnichiwa, minna-san (konbanwa to those appropriate ^_^).
I once practiced Nihongo on my own, spelled a few words and even wrote some here in the forum a long time ago. Now I am officially a Nihongo-no Gakusei for the purpose of practice my would-be daily living in Japan. Just feel free to ask anything (basic ^_^) that you find troublesome, ne? And... do you know Kanjis? You ever wonder why Japan is Nihon, which uses the Kanjis "Nichi" (sun) and "hon" (book)? So japan s... sun book?

I take the train for two hours every day to work, so I have Kana flashcards that I keep in my pocket. They're really helping me learn the
Katakana/Hiragana. I also have some manga that I read (very slowly!) to help me learn the various sounds. (I get so excited when I recognize a word!)
At home, I'm using another source to help me figure out how to put sentences together. Is the Kana/Kanji de Manga good for learning those sorts of things? I'm learning my Kana via repetition, so...I'm curious! |
