The art lesson I attended as a "taster" at Paston College (A levels), seriously opened me to the thought of the whole Manga themed work being quite the same in general "styles". It's your own representation of someone elses created style. And it's far harder to find very stylistic versions of Manga that don't always follow the whole "big eyes", "small features" rules.
So I find myself slowly moving away from Manga because of this. It's really funny though, as most of my art had been based on this for quite a few years.
I personally think it would be far more beneficial to the person if they followed their own style instead of someone elses. The only real reason I followed Manga was because of the culture it was linked to, but it seems quite limiting to the kind of artist who wants to be more expressive in their artwork.
