It wouldn't hurt, I think, to give the legs more shape. Like, the leg thins towards the knees, but then they get a bit broader again before getting even
thinner.
Eh, did that make sense? I could probably draw a decent explanation otherwise! |

i just figured out what vocaloid is....
I'm really behind in the anime manga scene, and that includes programs that dance to music...it was my friend's dad that informed me of this game while we were in his car...
Learn the rules before you trample them.

Umm you almost got it right...umm It's not a game and the dance thing was made after the actual vocaloid program...which is a singing synthesizer ..miku
miku dance came afterwards which is the dancey thing...
more crossovers haha~ hetalia/vocaloid TOTETO ARU~ (china always says aru...and toeto is luka...)
and umm a another picture (original, FINALLY)

GLG,
I'm impressed with your work; it's obvious that you've improved a lot since you first joined the forums. Way to go! ^^ Here is the critique I have to offer. First drawing: Adorable. The coloring is subtle, but good. My only suggestion is that you (try to) use quick stroked when drawing hair--it really makes a difference! Second drawing: Overall, it's done really well. I like how you drew the character and the mood to the drawing is good. Here's a little advice: 1 - I see that the paper looks a bit messy, especially around the character. Remember to erase as you go, and it will be worth it in the end. ^^ 2 - I advise you to go over the lines you draw several times (lightly) to smooth them out. 3 - Remember to draw joints like the elbows and knees, because they're usually showing! When drawing arms, the upper part of the arm should go kind of inward to the elbow; the lower part of the arm bulges out a little after that then also goes inward, but leads to the wrist. The pattern is out-in-out-in. (Same goes with the legs, but the thighs should be bigger than the lower leg--almost oval--and the calves usually bulge out quite a lot.) You might obtain a better understanding of this by looking at Julie Dillon's tutorials on the MU website---they certainly helped me! 4 - This isn't real important, but to make your eyes more interesting, try adding some highlight(s). (I see you've done it before. ^^) Most manga artists aim at making a large amount of the attention to the eyes, so don't be afraid to add detail! Good luck! You're doing really well, and it's great that you're practicing and posting so many drawings here for us to see. :) |

Yep you're right~ the stupid hands are stupid and were killed even more during the lining process~ repmudge@ first drawing, thank wu and thanks for the tips~ second drawing, 1- haha messy paper is my speciality~ (because i suck) 2- Thanks but it's too time consuming for lazy arse me~ 3- apfft yeah i suck at knees~ (I won't look at the tutorial because i hate them ;_ 4- heh i was wondering about my eyes and wether to start detailing them again. and now i shall~ thank you so much~

Cute stuff, Gothic Lolita Girl!
I wanted to leave a critique about the last image (the girl with the amp & guitar) : HEAD I like the way you did the hair, falling slightly, to the side -- gives a subtle sense of movement to this otherwise still pose. Also, I think the eyes are nicely done (although one eyebrow is significantly thicker than the other... somebody get this chick some tweezers, stat! hehe!) Her expression is very vacant... what is she thinking, what is she feeling? She seems rather emotionless, as if someone took her batteries out. Maybe play a bit with her eyebrows, or give her a little hint of a grin, to better suggest her mood/thoughts/feelings to the viewers. CLOTHING I like the bodice (top part) of her dress; it's an interesting design that adds a hint of unique interest to the clothing. The pleats are pretty well done drawn, too, although it might be nice to add another sliver of a pleat to the right side, towards the back, to give more of a feeling of "roundness" to the garment, as it drapes around her body. FEET The shoes... one looks like a ballerine without a heel, and the other looks like a stilleto without a heel. Were you intending them to be platforms? If the foot on the right is meant to be "on tip toe" then there needs to be a hint of a bend, across the top, where the toes meet the foot. The shoes conclude in a sharp, straight line, rather than a curve, which seems strange to me. Look at your own shoe, and notice how the back part of the shoe is rounded, not a sharp, straight edge. From the faint eared lines, I can see that you had them rounded, and then changed them to hard lines... curious. Also, I suggest adding a hint of a heel onto the shoes; even if they are ballerines (flats) they would have some kind of a heel (even a very small one.) ARM & HAND Ok, this is something that screams out from the page at me... the hand is disjointed from the arm. Follow the line of her arm... if her hand were attached, it would be inside the amp, rather than holding it. From what I see, there are two ways you can solve this conundrum: One : Put her hand under the amp, supporting it, rather than gripping it by the side. However, you would have to redraw the amp, making it higher, because otherwise, her forearm would be outrageously long! Two : redraw the arm, so that it comes out slightly, less compressed against the body. You would be able to see part of the wrist, where the hand meets the arm. This, I think, is the easier of the solutions, as you wouldn't hav eto redraw the amp at all. THE AMP There seems to be some slight perspective gremlins at work here, but, generally, they don't distract me. In fact, I really like the way you drew the strap across the top (even if it's a bit off-center.) I think the handle, and the little blocks where the it connects to the amp's top, is done very nicely, and looks very natural. Well, there's my 2-cents (well, maybe a little more!) (^_^) p.s. I like the colours you chose. That blue is very pretty. |

Cool, you drew a guitar player also. It looks much better than mine though. ^_^ I really like her expression and how she's tilting her head. Maybe her left
arm is a little thinner than her right. Probably just me though. ^ ^' But it's still very nice. ^ ^

I had to look up vocaloids after all these drawings and what has been mentioned about it before here. Interesting program, but most music made with I gotta
say, sadly sounds like crap!
But at least there is a Swedish one with laser beam eyes! That made my day, so thanks for making me look it up! |

Ah, the things that makes me proud to be a Swed! I'll give the ones you mentioned a try, thanks for the tip. Beeeeaaaaaaaam~~ Edit: well, I liked the Alice one, very odd and a bit macabre at that! I guess a close friend was right after all about my taste in movies and the likes...! Edit2: Well.... I thought something was odd. So I found out that the first Alice human sacrifice was made with vocaloids, but the ones you find all over the place, music videos that is, actually is a cover version with real singers. So I dug around some more and found the original, and um. Suffice to say it turned out to be the first vocaloid song to ever been uploaded on nico nico (pretty much the Japanese version of youtube).
