good to be back
that ribbon goes a long way towards giving the appearance of seperating the leg into calf/thigh, but just remember that the leg has the knee cap (a solid bone) and also that the muscles at the back of the legs curve a lot, even on young or thin people ^_^ keep up the good work!

Very cute, although I think the right most character seems to get smaller and smaller the higher up you get, looking like hes getting sucked up by a vacuum ^_^
I think it could be easily mended by making his head a bit bigger. (sorry if it's a her) |

I usually sketch and sketch until I'm happy, even if the paper ends up looking to messy by all the lines, then I'll just take a new paper and put it on
top of the sketch to pick up the finished lines on a clean paper.
I do tend up to be more then a bit of a perfectionist though, so it's nothing I would recommend to do always, but it works great especially as a novice like myself when you start from the basics with a stick figure and gradually build your character up, putting on clothes etc. Time consuming? Yes, very much so, but the end result is worth it in my opinion. |

eheh I normally do that but ..yeah even that fails as you can tell.
So more vocaloid art, I wuv rin a lot so I draw lots of art based on her songs! I've already done one based on Kokoro so I've drawn one based on Daughter of Evil
and one on Paperplane
edit:I fixed all my very stupid spelling mistakes T.T

Don't be to hard on yourself, give yourself some credit
I think the first pic has some real potential, just adding in that hair which is already sketched, the cheek and the line between the legs, could be enough, leaving the face features could give an interesting effect, which I already think it has! The second one is a bit messy I agree, but again, it's an interesting concept! ... I should get back to drawing now, I'm feeling that I'm trying to evade my own need to work hard for results, keep up the good work! |

It really did have a cool effect, I'm impressed!
I might just explore the concept behind this myself, honestly! Oh? Of course I'll give a comment on what I think could be improved as well, I think the leg line on the mid one seems a bit strange, since to me it looks like the left leg would have been closer to the viewer as the character is standing in an angle, but the line suggest otherwise. Good job! Very artistic in my opinion. |

I beg to differ, the lack of obvious shadows and highlights might make it look a little bit flat, although I see that you have actually tried to add them in,
but as far as the actual color matching go, it looks great.
As for going digital, it's very time consuming. If you have the resources to learn to color by other means, I'd honestly go with that. I do envy how people can use tones for example, also how they can draw clean lines. I have nothing against either choice, in my opinion the ends justify the means. As for why I have chosen to go mostly digital myself, partially because I know that I mess up allot, this will especially hold true for this first or so novice year. The other reason is because I simply don't have the tools for the other option, nor do I find it very cost effective at my current quite crappy budget. If you really want to though, it's not that hard to get the basics down using photoshop, it's just very time consuming to actually color a drawing. Personally I find it very gratifying to try different mediums, I even intend to paint a project I have in mind later with acrylic paint, could end up good or bad, but I'll learn something new and have some fun while I'm at it. I rant to much. The drawing looks great, that's all. It actually reminds me of one of the characters from lucky star. |

personally, i digipaint, or at least i attempt to, which means i don't use outlines since they take too much time for me to clean up. i started digital
painting 2-3 weeks ago, so really, i'm not qualified to say much. An effective way of coloring that i've heard from my other artist friends is to clean
up your art on paper, so there are as few smudges from your hand as possible, then scan it in. set that layer to multiply and start going at it. I'm sure
it will look just fine that way.
